Dynamic assessment

Mary uses a wide range of standardised tests to assess CCD but she also has expertise in dynamic assessment.  This means that she creates bespoke communication assessments based on sound therapeutic principles so that assessment is sensitive to the contexts that are relevant for each unique individual.

Therapy in context

Mary usually works with someone in the comfort of the own home but therapy rooms can be booked.  Therapy also takes place in the community at personally relevant venues.

Mary is happy to work wherever communication happens!

Working with conversation partners

Communication involves at least two people so assessment and therapy naturally involves any significant people related to the client.  This is called conversation partner training.

Mary has worked with the following significant others: partners, children, other relatives and friends, workplace mentors, colleagues, university tutors, solicitors and a personal trainer.

When clients are supported by rehabilitation assistants or carers, Mary provides regular, empathetic training and supervision.

Independent practice

Mary provides relevant and achievable practice following each session. She creates personalised resources using engaging materials.

Mary also integrates tablet applications to further enhance therapy, where they hold value.
